This Privacy Policy explains how WatotoSafe handles information when parents and guardians use the WatotoSafe Android application and related online services.
Privacy at a glance
WatotoSafe is designed with a local-first approach. Core parenting information such as child profiles, screen-time settings, session history and Parent PIN information is primarily stored on the parent's device. WatotoSafe does not use AccessibilityService or VPN information for advertising or marketing.
1. About WatotoSafe
WatotoSafe is a digital-parenting application designed to help parents and guardians create a safer environment when sharing an Android device with a child.
WatotoSafe provides features such as child profiles, screen-time sessions, App Protection, Website Protection, parent-only controls, local activity history and digital-parenting Tips & Guides.
The current WatotoSafe Parent Sharing Mode does not require a WatotoSafe online account for normal use.
2. Information WatotoSafe handles
Depending on the features a parent chooses to use, WatotoSafe may handle information including:
- Child profile information entered by the parent, such as name, age-related profile information and avatar selection.
- Screen-time session settings and session history.
- Apps selected by the parent as allowed or restricted.
- Website Protection preferences, categories and manually blocked websites.
- Locally recorded activity related to protected child sessions.
- Parent PIN verification information stored securely on the device.
- Technical network request information generated when the app downloads WatotoSafe content.
3. Information stored locally on your device
WatotoSafe is designed to keep important parenting information on the parent's Android device whenever possible.
Local information may include child profiles, selected avatars, screen-time configuration, app restrictions, Website Protection settings, session history and related activity information.
Parent PIN
WatotoSafe uses a 6-digit Parent PIN to protect parent-only areas. The PIN is verified locally using secure Android storage and cryptographic mechanisms. WatotoSafe does not send the Parent PIN to the WatotoSafe server.
Forgot PIN recovery uses the Android device owner's authentication features where supported.
4. Online services and content
Although WatotoSafe's core parenting features are designed to work locally, some features connect to WatotoSafe servers.
The application may connect to watotosafe.org and a.watotosafe.org to obtain:
- Digital-parenting Tips & Guides.
- Signed website-protection catalogues.
- Website categories and related protection information.
- Welcome Back campaign images.
- Additional child avatars provided by WatotoSafe administrators.
Supported content may be cached on the device so that it remains available when the device is offline.
Like most internet services, our hosting infrastructure may automatically receive technical information associated with a network request, such as an IP address, request date and time, and basic request information. This information may also be processed by our hosting or security infrastructure for normal operation and security.

WatotoSafe is intended to be configured and controlled by a parent or guardian.
Child profiles are created by the parent and are primarily stored locally on the parent's device. WatotoSafe does not require a child to create an online WatotoSafe account in Parent Sharing Mode.
Parents and guardians should only enter information necessary to manage the child's digital experience.
9. Data retention
Information stored locally in WatotoSafe generally remains on the device until it is removed through the application, the application's storage is cleared, or WatotoSafe is uninstalled.
Cached online content may be replaced when newer verified content is downloaded.
Server and hosting logs may be retained for reasonable operational, security and troubleshooting periods according to the practices of the infrastructure used to operate WatotoSafe.
10. Security
WatotoSafe uses technical safeguards intended to protect the integrity and confidentiality of information handled by the application.
These protections include secure local PIN verification, Android security mechanisms, signed server content, verification of website catalogue updates and offline last-known-good copies where appropriate.
No application or online system can guarantee absolute security, but WatotoSafe is designed to minimize unnecessary collection and keep core parenting information on the device wherever practical.
11. Your choices and controls
Parents remain in control of WatotoSafe's sensitive Android permissions.
- Accessibility access can be disabled in Android Accessibility settings.
- VPN access can be disabled through WatotoSafe or Android VPN settings.
- App and website restrictions can be changed by the parent.
- Child profiles can be edited or removed.
- Locally stored application data can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling WatotoSafe.

WatotoSafe Tips & Guides may contain links to external websites, videos or resources.
When you open an external service, that service operates under its own privacy policy and terms. WatotoSafe is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as WatotoSafe develops, new features are introduced or legal and platform requirements change.
The current version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
